Route 360 Solutions Initiative Kicked Off the Building Climate Resilience in the Slums Project in the Kroo Bay Slum in Freetown

On 30th August 2025, the Route 360 Solutions Initiative’s team officially kicked off the Building Climate Resilience in the Slums project in the Kroo Bay slum as part of the UNDP and Government of Italy Youth4Climate Program. On this day, over 80 youth and women were engaged in plastic pollution in slum communities. They learned about the major sources of plastic waste, plastic’s impacts on wildlife and humans, plastic’s contribution to flooding, plastic’s life cycle and melting points, methods of plastic waste management, recyclable and non-recyclable plastic products, and the use of digital technology, such as the Route 360 mobile app for waste collection. The participants were very excited about the project and are looking forward to more similar engagements in the coming weeks.
