As the fight against climate change continues, Route 360 Solutions Initiative stands firm with the most affected communities. On 26th April 2026, 25 climate disaster management books were distributed among youth and women in the Cockle Bay slums. This will enable them to prevent, mitigate, prepare, respond to, and recover from climate disasters, such as floods and heatwaves, which have been critical issues in the community in recent years.
The books shared to the community represents over 30% of the total climate disaster management books Route 360 intend to distribute in the Kroo Bay, Cockle Bay, and Susan’s Bay slums through the Building the Climate Resilience in the Slums project, which so far, has empowered over 160 youth and women in Kroo Bay and Cockle Bay with waste management and recycling training in the last seven months.
Our distribution in Cockle Bay was graced by the Project Manager, Alusine Hassan Bangura, Community Outreach and Engagement Lead, Sallieu Barba Kamara, Recycling Educators, Michael Williams and Santigie Koroma, and other members. We are excited to have been able not only to do the distribution, but also to educate the project beneficiaries about climate disasters and how they, as individuals and a community, can address them for the long term.
