The Route 360 team recently met with the staff of the Environment Protection Agency Sierra Leone (EPA-SL). Our team was received with open arms at the agency’s head office in Wilberforce Village, Freetown. In attendance from our team were our COO (Alusine Hassan Bangura), Community Outreach and Engagement Lead (Salliue Barba Kamara), Recycling Educator (Santigie Koroma), and Assistant Project Coordinator (Amida Kamara).
During the meeting, our team gave a brief presentation on our work, including the Re-afforesting Freetown City (RFC) and the BCRS projects, which are supported by the Global Greengrants Fund and the UNDP Rome Centre/Government of Italy, respectively. The presentation allowed the agency’s team to learn more about the impact of the RFC project in the Grafton, Leicester, Malama, and Regent communities, where 800 economic trees were planted, over 200 locals sensitized, and 16 youth and women trained as arborists between January 2025 and June 2025, and the impact of the BCRS project in Kroo Bay, Cockle Bay, and Susan’s Bay slums, where 250 marginalized youth and women are being empowered to collect and recycle single-use plastic waste into ecobricks for use in construction and outdoor pavement.
Our team also engages the staff on how a partnership between Route 360 and EPA-SL will benefit both entities and help tackle environmental issues in Freetown City and Sierra Leone. The agency’s team was excited to learn about our work and is open to collaborations with Route 360 to protect Sierra Leone’s environment for current and future generations.
