Individual Milestone: Joseph Turay Accepted into the Jim Leech Mastercard Foundation Fellowship on Entrepreneurship

Joseph Turay is one of the 1,000 students and graduates from across Africa selected out of a pool of 10,000 applicants to participate in the 2026 Jim Leech Mastercard Foundation Fellowship on Entrepreneurship at Queen’s University, Ontario, Canada. The 8-month program provides fellows with access to training resources, financial support, and mentors to improve their entrepreneurial skills and build their ventures to make a social and financial impact in their communities and Africa.

In the next 8 months, Joseph will join other fellows of the program to learn more about characters leading one to becoming a successful entrepreneur, uderstanding the current landscape of evidenced team-building knowledge, team-working, and industrial tools, assessing the interconnected of the global systems, and systems leadership to enable and support systems-level change, engaging in design thinking methodology and designing solutions’ workshops to address challenges using human-centered designs, examining the tools used to better understand the pain points and needs of potential users or customers and the importance of empathy, understanding how to generate good ideas, recognize bad ideas, and be a creative problem-solver, assessing the processes involve in making solution financially viable by exploring price, cost, and value continuum and empathizing with customers or users, determining product’s value proposition, infrastructure, customers, and finances, and understanding the social enterprise and innovation’s protection.
